“Dear Leonard...
to look life in the face,
always... to look life in the face...
and to know it... for what it is...
at last to know it...
to love it... for what it is...
and then...
to put it away.
Leonard...
always the years between us
always the years...
always the love...
always the hours...”
This
is the final scene from the movie The Hours. I’ve always deeply loved
this movie. Three women. Virginia Woolf, who decides to put an end to
her life, a modern Mrs Dalloway who tries to stop a dear friend’s way to
a certain death, and a mother, who chooses to escape from his marriage
and son, to Live. Three women, three stories, and a subtle line between
life and death, but, at the end, the extreme importance to make a choice
in life, about what we feel it’s important for us, and for us only.
